Drones - Discussion Post
Although drones make it possible to not have to send someone's son or daughter into war, does that take away one's responsibility to make war decisions? War decisions should not be taken lightly. The American public needs to be aware of war decisions being made and involve themselves in those decisions. Drones can still cause destruction and death just as much as human beings. So why does it make the decision process different? Many Americans are not up to date on the topic of drones and tend to not pay attention oftentimes, even though there are exceptions of course, to the topic of drones because it is not an actual human being that is being sent to war. Drones can also threaten national security because if taken advantage of, drones could be sent out to countries or nations without approval or could be used too often if not careful. Without guidelines and restrictions being made on the usage of drones by the US military, safety could be threatened. The war making decision process is a crucial part of democracy so if the usage of drones is being looked over as an important issue, could that threaten our democracy as well?
