Roman Empire, Feudal relations of the middle ages, Many only claimed the right of use rather than the right to complete and permanent control of land.

The idea that the the United Nations, World Court, are examples of possible world state or world federation that could emerge.

Definition of the modern state: 1 claim to sovereignty, 2 claim to geographical sovereignty.

What is the difference between the “state” and the “state of nature”?

The state of nature described by Hobbs and Locke refers to humans living in anarchy meaning absence of government.

What are the differences between Hobbes theories of the state and Locke’s theories?
